The final conference of Creative Skills Europe, the European Skills Council on Employment and Training in the Audiovisual and Live Performance sectors, took place in Brussels, Belgium, on Monday 6th of June 2016.
Closing a phase of activities that included three meetings in Tallinn (April 2015), Prague (January 2016), and Madrid (March 2016) the conference presented the final publication of the project, as well as recommendations for future actions and co-operations in the field of skills development for the audiovisual and live performance sectors in Europe.
More than 50 participants attended the event.
Several strong conclusions were put forward at this occasion:
- The importance to continue developing sector labour market intelligence at national and EU levels in order to better understand evolutions and needs, but also to better position the cultural and creative sectors as key actors in forward looking and innovative European societies and economies.
- The relevance of deepening discussions on why and how we count ourselves to make sure sector statistics are properly understood and used, both by the sector and by policymakers. Occupational statistics combined to dynamic views on the evolutions of activities and occupations are also key if an understanding of the sector is to be coupled to a useful anticipation of the future.
- In the digital environment, properly positioning sector stakeholders as indispensable content creators and innovators is urgently needed if initiatives in the field of digital skills development are to address both technical skills to navigate and manage the digital infrastructure, and the skills needed to give life and meaning to the digital world.
- The need to develop further tools to address immediate skills needs in our sectors such as the certification and mobility of technical professionals or to allow the access to lifelong training of the increasing number of independent workers.
Creative Skills Europe’s partners are looking into ways to keep their European conversations and co-operation going.
